About The Position

The primary responsibility of this position is to perform all activities of the shipping and receiving department. This role involves managing the accurate receipt, distribution, and storage of packages, mail, and products, ensuring all deliveries match orders, inspecting for damage, and processing returns. The position also includes managing inventory control, processing outgoing shipments with various providers, coordinating with delivery services for efficiency, and utilizing a computerized system for reporting. Additionally, the clerk is responsible for coordinating the movement of items to and from storage, recommending updates to department procedures, and performing other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • A High School education or equivalent is required.
  • Must be detail oriented.
  • Possess the ability to process numbers accurately.
  • Able to manage and maintain confidential and sensitive information with diplomacy and tact.
  • Must be able to walk, sit, stand, bend or lift on a regular basis during the shift.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move objects weighing up to eighty (80) pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous shipping, receiving or inventory control experience is preferred.
  • Experience with PCs and related software is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Accurate receipt and distribution of all packages, mail, and other received items.
  • Storage of all products, packages, mail, and other received items as needed.
  • Verifying bills of lading and ensuring deliveries reflect actual products ordered.
  • Inspecting packages and deliveries for damage and processing returns to suppliers.
  • Ensuring all deliveries accepted have a packing slip or alternate documentation for proof of delivery.
  • Managing stock rotations to ensure older product is used first.
  • Managing inventory control functions and advising managers of low or discarded supplies.
  • Processing all outgoing packages and mail using appropriate suppliers (USPS, UPS, Federal Express, DHL, etc.).
  • Working with outside delivery providers to attain efficient service and cost effectiveness.
  • Utilizing the computerized system to process receiving reports, bills of lading, and shipping reports.
  • Forwarding original documents to the Finance Department.
  • Coordinating the movement of items to and from storage as requested by management.
  • Recommending updates to receiving department objectives, standards, and policies and procedures for review by the Accounting Manager.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
