About The Position

The Shipping Clerk is responsible for preparing, processing, and coordinating outgoing shipments while ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with company procedures. This position works closely with production, warehouse, customer service, and transportation providers to ensure customer orders are shipped correctly and on schedule. In a foam manufacturing environment, the Shipping Clerk verifies product quantities, packaging requirements, and shipping documentation to support efficient distribution operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • One to three years of shipping, receiving, logistics, warehouse, or manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Experience with ERP, shipping software, or warehouse management systems preferred.
  • Manufacturing experience, particularly in the foam industry, is a plus.
  • Knowledge of shipping and receiving procedures and documentation.
  • Familiarity with bills of lading, packing slips, and freight carriers.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Problem-solving and customer service skills.
  • Basic mathematical and data entry skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Process and prepare shipping documents including bills of lading, packing lists, labels, and manifests.
  • Verify customer orders, product quantities, and shipment details before release.
  • Coordinate outbound shipments with carriers, drivers, and warehouse personnel.
  • Schedule pickups and deliveries with transportation providers.
  • Maintain accurate shipping records in ERP, WMS, or inventory management systems.
  • Generate shipping labels and ensure proper product identification.
  • Communicate shipment status and potential delays to supervisors and customer service personnel.
  • Track shipments and provide updates as requested.
  • Verify that products are packaged according to customer and company requirements.
  • Assist with inventory transactions and cycle count activities as needed.
  • Resolve shipping discrepancies, shortages, damaged shipments, and documentation issues.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety standards and shipping regulations.
  • Maintain organized shipping files and records.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the shipping department.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
