About The Position

The Shipping and Logistics Coordinator is responsible for managing the shipment of outgoing freight and receiving incoming freight. This role involves meticulous data entry, package preparation, and the operation of various equipment to ensure efficient and safe handling of materials within a manufacturing facility. The position also requires flexibility, strong organizational skills, and the ability to support other production departments as needed.

Requirements

  • Good verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Ability to work from written and verbal instructions.
  • Neat penmanship to complete shipping logs/labels, planners, inventory and scrap logs, etc.
  • Detail oriented and able to multi-task several functions.
  • Ability to organize work to optimize efficiency.
  • Previous forklift experience required for full-time permanent position.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Previous computer data entry experience required.
  • One year of previous shipping/receiving experience utilizing FedEx and UPS "World Ship.
  • Ability to function in high-pressure situations.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Manual dexterity to operate forklift, staple gun, pallet jack, hand truck, nail gun, table saw, stretch wrap and skid-banding equipment, hand tools, computer terminal, and calculator.
  • Correctable vision and hearing.
  • Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend waist and neck, squat, twist neck and waist, use hands to grasp, manipulate, push, pull and reach.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
  • Ability to maneuver successfully through a 75,000 square foot manufacturing facility.

Responsibilities

  • Schedules the shipment of outgoing freight via DHL, UPS, FED Ex, etc., as needed to support company shipment requirements.
  • Receives incoming freight from freight carriers; signs off on deliveries; distributes received items to purchaser or notifies inspection to check material.
  • Enters information from Manufacturing Plans into the PC and prints out bar codes; attaches bar codes to packages.
  • Operates a forklift to maneuver wooden crates and heavier items inside a machine shop.
  • Packs up to 35 lbs of product in prefabricated cardboard boxes; builds wooden crates to house larger, heavier items or quantities of smaller boxes.
  • Utilizes hand trucks, pallet jacks, nail guns, etc to make and move pallets and crates throughout the shop floor.
  • Provides shop support by performing back-up duties in production support departments such as deburring, packaging, part cleaning, etc.
  • Works scheduled shift and meets company attendance requirements.
  • Stays late or modifies work hours on short notice, if production deadlines require it.
  • Performs the job safely and complies with company safety rules and procedures.
  • Follows the lean philosophy and practices the 6 S’s on a daily basis.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
