About The Position

This role involves performing various manual and clerical duties related to the shipment of finished goods, components, and equipment, as well as the receiving and stocking of materials from multiple sources. The position requires recording incoming materials, checking for and resolving discrepancies, and moving items to their proper locations. Responsibilities include checking shipments against documentation, staging shipments for loading, and preparing and maintaining shipping, receiving, and stock records. The job also entails loading and unloading materials, transporting them between locations, and potentially operating material handling equipment. Communication with supervision regarding discrepancies and answering inquiries about shipments are key aspects of the role. Employees are expected to operate safely and use mandated personal protective equipment (PPE).

Requirements

  • High school diploma or recognized GED equivalent.
  • Ability to communicate effectively one-on-one or in group situations with customers, suppliers, contractors, executive staff members, and co-workers.
  • Proficient with and have a good understanding of data entry and inventory control systems and procedures.
  • Ability to interpret bill of materials, part numbers, and part descriptions to aid problem-solving and inventory control.
  • Ability to operate material handling equipment in a safe manner, such as a forklift, crane, yard tractor, etc.
  • Excellent driving record.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, percent, and perform trigonometric and geometric calculations.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment and participate, contribute, and support all team activities.
  • Strong computer literacy.

Responsibilities

  • Receive materials from vendors, the main plant, and warehouses.
  • Check the count of incoming materials against appropriate records and make entries on receiving records.
  • Forward necessary paperwork to concerned departments or individuals.
  • Move materials to inspection or proper stocking locations.
  • Prepare summaries of materials received and maintain records pertaining to receiving activities.
  • Participate in periodical cycle counting and/or inventory audits.
  • Move finished products and components to stored and/or stocking locations.
  • Prepare finished goods for shipment to designated locations.
  • Assist in maintaining records on all items placed into stock.
  • Move finished goods to the shipping area, check count against shipping documents and instructions, and load onto trucks.
  • Move component parts and materials to various production work centers.
  • Communicate with supervision regarding discrepancies on incoming materials or shipments and make corrections as instructed.
  • Answer inquiries regarding receipt of materials, shipments made or pending, and check various details for Material Control and others.
  • Load and unload materials.
  • Move materials to and from work centers, shipping, receiving, and stocking locations.
  • Occasionally transport materials to and from vendors, truck, bus, and air terminals using Company vehicles.
  • Assume duties of yard shipper/receiver as needed.
  • Operate material handling equipment such as a forklift, crane, yard tractor, etc., in a safe manner.
  • Obtain a CDL license if required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
