About The Position

The Shipper C position works collaboratively within the department under the direction of the Shipping Supervisor to prepare materials for transport in and out of the plant location. The Shipper C will follow established procedures to ensure safety, compliance and other efficiencies to support the functions of shipping and receiving; purchase order fulfillment; inventory control and other key related tasks. Essential Functions Understand the fundamental elements used in the shipping process including but not limited to: Packaging Types Pallet Sizes Switch List processes All safety requirements, and inspection steps as well as processes throughout the facility (i.e. warehouse, tracks, locks, etc.) Product labeling and markings Interpret, communicate and execute daily loading schedule Safely, accurately and efficiently prepare load vans, Hopper trucks and cars to goal weights and distributions while properly performing preload inspections, staging loads and installing load locks Identify bulk tank loading spouts and strapping locations accurately Document with accuracy loading paperwork, check sheets, packaging orders and strapped bulk tanks Safely operate a forklift/tractor to transport materials for packaging and shipping Potentially engage in highly repetitive task of stacking 50# bags containing carbon black on the lazy-susan (est. repetition 850 – 1700 bags per day) May engage the safe and appropriate use of a palletizer in lieu of stacking Inspect for and report issues with Hopper cars, loading vans, railcars and trucks Engage in various shaker operation task to ensure product weight efficiencies are met in addition to scaling in and out trucks to validate optimum levels Identify and flag all off-weight bags to ensure accuracy in order fulfillment (FIBC and 50#) Execute all ISO duties as required by the supervisor and department Safely operate yard truck to move trailers around the plant location as a result of operational/distribution need (may require current CDL license holder and is determined based on plant management discretion) Actively participate in safety inspections of equipment and process efficiencies to ensure routine operations may continue and department functionality is optimal. Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to read, interpret and understand safety manuals, policies and procedures
  • Excellent communication skills to relay shipping instructions to team members
  • Desire for excellence with respect to efficiencies and results

Nice To Haves

  • 2 + years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
  • 2 + years’ of Forklift experience
  • Strong mechanical and operational aptitude in a manufacturing environment
  • CDL driver’s license
