About The Position

Airgas is hiring a Shipper and Receiver in Chicago, IL. This role involves overseeing the loading and unloading of goods, operating a forklift, and assisting with daily branch operations to ensure rental equipment is available for orders. The position requires maintaining a safe working environment, determining shipment methods, preparing shipping documents, assembling containers, packing goods, inspecting and verifying incoming goods, unpacking and routing goods, and maintaining record-keeping systems. General warehouse duties such as stocking, pulling, and packing orders are also included. A CDL license is required for local delivery and pickup of equipment.

Requirements

High School diploma or GED
Requires a CDL license for the Delivery and pick up of equipment within local area

Nice To Haves

Experience with UPS Software, Bill of Ladings, LTL Carriers, Expediting Shipments.

Responsibilities

Determine method of shipment and arrange shipping; prepare bills of lading, and other shipping documents manually or by computer
Assemble containers and crates, record contents manually or in computer system, pack goods to be shipped and affix identifying information and shipping instructions
Oversee loading and unloading of goods from trucks or other conveyances
Inspect and verify incoming goods against invoices or other documents, record shortages and reject damaged goods
Unpack, code and route goods to appropriate storage areas
Maintain internal, manual or computerized record-keeping systems
May operate forklift, hand truck or other equipment to load, unload, transport and store goods.
General Warehouse duties to include putting up stock, pulling and pack orders
Performs other Warehouse related duties as required.
