Shift Supervisor-AM SHIFT
About The Position
Cozzini Bros., a 100-year-old company and America’s largest commercial knife rental and knife sharpening service, is immediately hiring a Shift Supervisor for the AM SHIFT. Our customers include large and recognizable restaurant and grocery chains. This role is responsible for overall shift supervision and performance of directing the daily activities of the sharpening operation, including throughput targets, safety, training, and good housekeeping practices. The supervisor will assign resources to achieve the overall management and performance of the sharpening operations, including sharpening, staffing, safety, training, throughput, quality, and security.
Requirements
- A comprehensive knowledge of sharpening operations is necessary.
- A broad range of management skills is required with particular emphasis on leadership, supervision, motivation, communication, and planning.
- Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Must be a strong team player with a firm, personal commitment toward Cozzini and its customers.
- Ability to scale an operation, without sacrificing efficiency and reliability, during periods of rapid growth.
- 3-5 or more years of Sharpening, and/or Operations experience
- High School or Associates degree required
Nice To Haves
- A working knowledge of lean/improvement processes/systems is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Ensures that all employees are trained, engaged, and managed effectively throughout the sharpening operation.
- Delivers facility goals by supervising staff; organizing and monitoring workflow to ensure efficient and effective operation/utilization of the facility.
- Completes the production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel, establishing priorities, monitoring progress, revising schedules, resolving problems, and reporting results of the processing flow on shift production summaries.
- Facilitates the direction of all sharpening operations, including knife sharpness quality, knife box integrity, safety, equipment basic maintenance and calibration, shift throughput, sanitation/cleanliness, and personnel training to ensure plant and customer requirements are met.
- Facilitates the improvement initiatives and implementation of company objectives, productivity standards, and cost control goals.
- Assists in planning short- and long-range labor needs based on production requirements and input from senior management.
- Ensures the security of the facility, its environs, employees, and contents.
- Conducts regular instruction in good security practices.
