About The Position

The Shift Supervisor will be responsible for utilizing personnel and resources effectively, instructing employees on company procedures and expectations, meeting production deadlines, decreasing errors, and devising and enforcing safety procedures and processes. This role involves overseeing hourly employees, resolving conflicts, ensuring adherence to company guidelines, and maintaining a safe working environment. The supervisor will accomplish manufacturing goals by communicating expectations, planning, and monitoring job results. They will also ensure equipment is operational by reporting repair needs, maintaining technical knowledge, and gauging parts to verify specifications. Additionally, the role requires documenting production issues, managing stock inventory, and maintaining a clean work area. The position requires flexibility in working hours, including on-call availability, and the ability to work independently and interact skillfully with various stakeholders. Essential physical requirements include the ability to consistently lift up to 50 pounds, standing, repetitive movement, walking, and using hands to handle tools. Occasional requirements include sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Specific vision abilities such as close, distance, peripheral vision, and focus adjustment are necessary.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience as CNC Set-up CNC lathe and milling machines
  • Excellent understanding of the safe operation of all hand tools for fitting and assembling products
  • Knowledge of gauging equipment, including micrometers, calipers, depth gauges, etc.
  • Must have good computer skills
  • Must be a team player and work well with others in process development and problem solving
  • Must enjoy a fast-paced manufacturing environment, results, oriented, and self-motivated
  • Committed to continuous improvement principles with the goals of the company in mind at all times
  • Ability to effectively handle multiple activities simultaneously and successfully
  • Excellent Communication and interpersonal skills
  • Have the ability and skill to teach employees as required
  • Detail Oriented with excellent eyesight, and mechanically inclined
  • Capable of work that requires concentration and physical effort

Responsibilities

  • Utilize personnel and resources in the best possible way

  • Follow all guidelines (verbal and/or written) as established by the company

  • Accomplish manufacturing goals by communicating job expectation, planning, and monitoring and appraising job results
  • Ensures operation of equipment by reporting need for repairs
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge
  • Gauge parts to verify that they meet specification using calipers, micrometers, and other quality approved gauging devises as required
  • Notify Supervisor immediately of any deviation or change in part specs or changes to safety guarding or other safety issues (slips, falls, guarding or hand tool issues, etc.)
  • Listen for any sounds that may indicate a malfunction
  • Document all issues with production in order to communicate effectively with other shifts
  • Plans stock inventory by anticipating needs, placing, and expediting orders for stock and verifying receipt of stock
  • Maintain work area is clean, neat, and in an orderly fashion
