Our mission is to Create Life Without Limits for People With Disabilities! We are currently seeking a dynamic individual to join our team at our 31-bed intermediate care facility in Commack. This is an entry-level management position focused on caring for individuals with developmental and/or intellectual disabilities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Two (2) years of related experience in the care of developmentally/physically delayed children or adults.
  • NYS Driver license
  • 1 year licensed driving experience

Nice To Haves

  • Management experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise Direct Care Staff during the assigned shift, ensuring the quality of care and therapeutic interaction for all program participants.
  • Schedule and assign direct care staff to specific activities to encourage maximum independence in each person's daily activities, such as ADL, laundry, and recreation.
  • Maintain and post scheduled assignments, adjusting them based on staff availability, and the abilities and requirements of the individuals (e.g., cluster sheets, appointments, recreation trips).
  • Maintain appropriate staff records related to time/attendance, performance levels, deficiencies, counseling sessions, and training needs.
  • Ensure cleanliness and order in all areas of the residence, including rooms, bathrooms, laundry room, day room, and grounds.
  • Conduct and record fire drills and evacuations.
  • Relate to staff with respect and professionalism, displaying tact, courtesy, self-control, discretion, and the ability to work as a team.
  • Be aware of and assist in the implementation of all applicable regulations.
  • Directly supervise up to 12 DSPs per shift.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
