About The Position

Wedgwood Christian Services is seeking a Shift Supervisor to provide direct care within their residential behavioral health program serving adolescent co-ed youth (ages 12-17). This specialized program, the Summit Program, focuses on youth healing from substance use. The Shift Supervisor will act as a stable, caring adult, helping youth build resilience, practice emotional regulation, and envision a future beyond trauma. This role involves mentoring youth and leading staff, ensuring consistency in care, guiding daily operations, and supporting a therapeutic environment grounded in trauma-informed practices. The position plays a critical role in maintaining structure, coaching staff, and ensuring high-quality care on every shift. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about behavioral health, substance use recovery, trauma-informed residential care, the 12-Step Model, youth advocacy, and therapeutic mentorship.

Requirements

At least 20 years of age
High school diploma or GED
Valid driver's license
Ability to lift 50 lbs. and safely perform physical interventions when necessary
Ability to bend, twist, and support movement in a residential setting

Responsibilities

Provide direction to direct care staff during assigned shifts.
Coordinate staff assignments to ensure appropriate coverage and effective treatment support.
Ensure completion of all shift responsibilities, including documentation, medication administration, and scheduled programming.
Support and guide staff in implementing individualized treatment plans.
Provide real-time coaching, feedback, and mentorship to promote staff development and team cohesion.
Assist with onboarding and training of new staff as assigned.
Create and maintain a safe, therapeutic environment grounded in the Sanctuary Model (safety, emotional intelligence, open communication, and social learning).
Build consistent, mentoring relationships with youth using trauma-informed and relationship-based approaches.
Utilize verbal de-escalation and crisis intervention techniques to support behavioral regulation.
Model and teach healthy communication, problem-solving, and daily living skills.
Support youth in developing life skills, self-worth, and positive identity formation.
Engage in structured recreational and skill-building activities.
Administer medications as assigned and support physical wellness routines.
Support residents' health needs, including first aid response and coordination of medical care.
Transport residents to appointments, school, work, or community activities as needed.
Document and maintain accurate records in alignment with behavioral health standards.
Ensure adherence to all agency policies, procedures, and licensing requirements.
