Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a field related to business/manufacturing operation in a paper mill environment OR a minimum of 3 years paper industry experience with a supervisory background and a general knowledge of paper operations preferred.
  • Must understand interrelationships of process flows, mechanical operations of equipment and be able to work effectively with management and hourly personnel across the mill.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Must have a HS Diploma or GED.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure establishment and adherence to good environmental health and safety practices, policies, and accident prevention programs. Direct efforts to comply with corporate, state, and federal environmental and occupational safety and health standards.
  • Lead the hourly workforce in maintaining continuity of safety, quality, and operations and minimize lost production.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and correcting operational problems.
  • Counsel and coach the hourly workforce.
  • Establish education plan of subordinates in the operation and safety aspects of the job.
  • Assign and direct work to meet production schedules and maintain quality.
  • Coordinate with other supervisors and staff members in methods of maintenance and production scheduling.
  • Review production efficiency, performance and cost reports and recommend and implement means of increasing production efficiency or reducing costs.
  • Know and understand the Union/Management agreement.
  • Write work orders and conduct follow-up reviews of the work orders.
  • Accurately report all safety, quality, and operational issues for effective follow-up.
  • Manage and direct shift maintenance personnel.
  • Other duties as assigned.
