About The Position

Nuro is seeking a Shift Supervisor for its On-Road Operations team in San Francisco, CA. This role is a Front Line Manager position responsible for building and leading a team of AV operators to achieve operational missions and company goals. The Shift Supervisor will oversee hiring, onboarding, performance management, and continuous improvement initiatives, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the team's contributions align with company metrics.

Requirements

  • At least 2+ years of experience managing teams of at least 10+ direct reports (hiring, performance management, coaching, or combination of relevant work experience).
  • Natural leader who takes ownership for their team's work.
  • Understanding of US Labor laws, Employment laws, and Driving laws.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and initiative to resolve issues independently.
  • Comfortable reviewing data.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Willingness to help out where needed.
  • Friendly, positive attitude with a willingness to learn and grow.
  • Excited about robots and supporting AI and robotics development.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that meets business needs, including nights, evenings, and weekends.

Nice To Haves

  • At least 4+ years of experience managing a large team (15+) of direct reports.
  • At least 2+ years of experience in the AV/delivery industry.

Responsibilities

  • Run the interview process and execute onboarding for new hires.
  • Develop interview and onboarding processes and grading rubrics with the L&D team.
  • Lead and manage a team of approximately 20 operators, providing feedback, guidance, training, and coaching.
  • Conduct performance reviews for operators based on evaluation metrics, updating metrics as needed.
  • Manage Start of Shift and End of Shift activities, including attendance, software burns, data importing, and equipment preparation.
  • Ensure operators are trained and ready for new feature rollouts.
  • Collaborate with the planning team to understand weekly goals, allocation strategies, and provide operator availability updates.
  • Respond to operator and onsite incidents according to established procedures.
  • Review plan vs. actual team performance weekly to identify deviation drivers and action items.
  • Manage continuous improvement processes and projects with cross-functional teams to enhance efficiency and throughput.
  • Engage with peers in other locations to share best practices and drive standardization.
