About The Position

The Shift Shipping Lead will be responsible for leading and assigning job responsibilities to department personnel, ensuring team members adhere to schedules, and maintaining a steady work flow within the department and dependent Fulfillment departments. This role involves identifying associates who perform below set goals, retraining them if necessary, and training team members on proper procedures. The Lead will verify that all processes are performed accurately and completely, communicate effectively with leadership about any issues, and assist department trainers. The position requires the ability to multi-task, ensure associates have the necessary equipment and tools, delegate tasks, and perform regular safety walkthroughs. Communication with leadership regarding shift headcounts and reporting safety concerns and incidents are also key functions.

Requirements

  • 1 to 2 years’ experience with facility maintenance in a medium to large distribution center or manufacturing operation.
  • Proficient understanding of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Must be able to Read, Write, and Speak English.
  • Must have patience and the capability to train/teach associates.
  • Ability to learn to operate RF Scanner and other necessary job tools.
  • Ability to operate equipment & lift to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to problem solve.
  • Ability to understand all functions through training.
  • Ability to follow safety procedures.
  • Highly motivated, a team-player, and self-starter.
  • Must be willing to cross-train outside of your immediate department.
  • Demonstrate high levels of dependability.
  • Experience working effectively under the pressure of competing and sometimes conflicting priorities.
  • Work as a team member by interacting and communicating with co-workers and managers in a cooperative constructive manner.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred, but not required.
  • Knowledge of OSHA compliance is a plus.
  • Conversational Spanish skills a plus.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel spreadsheets.
  • Experience in using Microsoft Outlook and Word programs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and assign job responsibilities to all department personnel as directed by the department supervisor.
  • Ensure all team members arrive on time, take scheduled breaks or lunches as required and stay within the scheduled time frames.
  • Maintain a steady work flow within the department and dependent Fulfillment departments.
  • Assist in identifying associates that perform below the set goals and retrain if necessary.
  • Train team members on proper procedures as directed by the department supervisor.
  • Verify all processes are performed accurately and to ensure completeness of the job.
  • Communicate with Leadership/Management of any issues.
  • Assist department trainers.
  • Multi-task.
  • Ensure associates have the equipment & tools needed to perform duties successful.
  • Delegate tasks and functions to associates.
  • Perform regular department safety walkthroughs and follow safety protocols & policies.
  • Remain in communication with leadership & management to ensure support is available.
  • Communicate regular headcounts of the shift to report any changes in the department.
  • Report any safety concerns & incidents to the designated parties.
