About The Position

The EMT will work as the Shift Safety Coordinator to ensure the safety and security of Nucor Steel Gallatin and its teammates. Responsibilities include but are not limited to inspecting and maintaining safety equipment; responding to fire and radiation alarms; assisting in safety training; conducting teammate health monitoring (hearing, drug testing); responding to incidents and emergencies on-site and providing treatment while maintaining confidentiality; and testing and checking fire equipment. This position will also serve as a member of the Emergency Medical Team and High Angle/Confined Space Rescue Team. This position works on a 12-hour rotating shift, scheduled/unscheduled overtime including nights, holidays and weekends, in an industrial environment. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • EMT-B Kentucky Certification
  • Ability to work on a 12-hour rotating shift, scheduled/unscheduled overtime including nights, holidays and weekends
  • Ability to work in an industrial environment
  • Ability to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times
