About The Position

We are seeking a Site Safety Coordinator to work in the Blairs facility. The Site Safety Coordinator will assist the Asset and Safety Protection Manager in planning and directing the Blairs facility to include safety, accident prevention, and security programs in order to ensure the safety and security of all personnel, equipment, and property. Plans and executes all training for the Blairs Facility. It is anticipated that, in performing the assigned duties, the Site and Safety Coordinator will regularly exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance to the management or general business operations of the Company.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with warehouse operations and applicable OSHA regulations.
  • Ability to detect hazards and review and analyze technical safety related information.
  • Ability to conduct thorough safety investigations.
  • Must have good computer skills including Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Requires effective oral/presentation and written communication skills including the ability to present ideas.
  • Well-developed organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated individual with excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities and easily adapt to changing situations.
  • Associates Degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or similar area required. Bachelors Degree preferred.
  • 3 years of experience with demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the safety function within a distribution/manufacturing environment preferred.
  • PIT Operators License
  • First Aid and CPR Certified
  • RCRA Certification up-to-date
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and use repetitive hand motions.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to reach overhead, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • This position may require up to 10% local travel.
  • Valid Driver’s License required.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees a thorough and effective accident investigation and reporting procedure conforming to OSHA requirements.
  • Reports all incidents and accidents to the Safety Manager in a timely manner.
  • Coordinates the investigation of all work-related injuries requiring medical treatment and promptly implements both procedural and physical corrective actions.
  • Executes safety objectives and implements safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations.
  • Performs all training for all associates including but not limited to New Hire; Federal, State, and Local required training; and all refresher training. (i.e. manual lifting, lock out/tag out, ergonomics, use of personal protection equipment, forklift operation, etc.).
  • Inspects facility safety equipment (i.e. eye wash stations, first aid kits, fire extinguishers) to ensure that it functions according to all federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Assists Safety Manager with the development of standard operating procedures for all safety functions in various warehouse jobs to identify potential safety hazards.
  • Assists the Safety Manager with streamlining all safety functions throughout all U.S. Unique Industries facilities.
  • Conducts the bi-annual emergency evacuation and assembly drills.
  • Coordinates with management team to address items that come up during safety observations and/or safety walks.
  • Oversees and takes ownership of the entire First Responder team.
  • Attends relative safety training, including OSHA background classes as required by Safety Manager.
  • Conducts daily safety walks.
  • Owns all Environmental Programs at the Blairs and Ringgold facilities
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
