About The Position
Nucor Steel Kankakee is seeking qualified applicants for a Shift Millwright position in Bourbonnais, Illinois. The role involves maintaining mill equipment and overhead cranes, performing preventive, routine, and breakdown maintenance, and using technical knowledge to improve equipment conditions. The position also includes developing and promoting safe work practices and maintaining daily records in a computerized maintenance system. Safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards must be upheld at all times. The listed base hourly rate is $18.04–$23.03, plus a production bonus calculated from the amount of quality tons produced and paid weekly. Incumbents in this position average $130,000 per year.
Responsibilities
- Develop and promote safe work practices.
- Maintain daily records in a computerized maintenance system.
- Apply technical knowledge to improve the condition of mill equipment, overhead cranes, and other equipment.
- Perform preventive, routine, and breakdown maintenance on equipment.
- Initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards.
