•$101,700 - $172,700•Onsite

About The Position

onsemi is seeking a Shift Manager at its East Fishkill, Hopewell Junction site. The Shift Manager is the single-point owner of factory performance for an assigned shift in the East Fishkill 300mm Wafer Fab, accountable for safe, stable, and cost-effective manufacturing results through decisive leadership, enforcement of standards, and end-to-end ownership of operational outcomes. The role defines problems, makes decisions, mobilizes resources, and drives issues to resolution while balancing safety, quality, delivery, and cost. Each shift is expected to leave the factory in a measurably stronger operating position, with improved stability, reduced risk, and clear ownership of remaining issues. The D1 schedule is Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and every other Saturday, 6:30 AM–7:00 PM.

Requirements

  • Experience in semiconductor manufacturing.
  • At least 5 years of leadership experience in manufacturing, industrial, or other high-reliability operational environments.
  • Demonstrated history of owning operational results, not merely supervising activity.
  • Ability to make sound decisions under time pressure and ambiguity.
  • Strong track record of leading people through problems, change, and accountability.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience owning shift-based operations involving advanced tools, tightly coupled processes, and high operational risk.
  • Background in structured problem solving, performance management, and operational excellence systems.

Responsibilities

  • Own and deliver shift-level results across equipment uptime, throughput, quality, cycle time, and cost.
  • Translate daily factory targets into prioritized shift execution plans; identify deviations early and take corrective action.
  • Make real-time decisions balancing output, product quality, equipment health, and operational risk.
  • Remain accountable for issues through resolution and ensure continuity across shifts and functions.
  • Accept full accountability for on-shift results regardless of cause or functional ownership.
  • Lead problem definition, containment, recovery, root cause analysis, and corrective actions for equipment, process, staffing, and material constraints.
  • Present cross-functional problems with clear analysis, options, and recommendations; hold engineering, maintenance, and support organizations accountable for commitments affecting shift performance.
  • Document lessons learned and translate them into improved standard work, controls, or escalation criteria.
  • Lead technicians and operators with clear performance, behavior, and ownership expectations; coach individuals to solve problems at the lowest responsible level.
  • Ensure staffing, skill mix, certifications, and coverage meet factory needs.
  • Develop future leaders through capability building, delegation, and direct feedback; address performance gaps promptly and professionally.
  • Serve as the shift’s authoritative operational leader and decision point; lead disciplined handovers covering factory status, performance versus target, open risks, degraded conditions, ownership, and next actions.
  • Ensure cross-shift continuity by enforcing standards and closing gaps.
  • Use metrics, standard work, and accountability mechanisms to improve factory performance.
  • Apply cost awareness to daily decisions, including labor efficiency, downtime, scrap, and rework.
  • Challenge recurring issues, workarounds, and inefficiencies, pursuing systemic fixes rather than short-term containment.
  • Reinforce a mindset of improving the factory’s long-term capability as well as meeting current output.

Benefits

  • Competitive benefits package; benefits are not itemized in the posting.
