About The Position

The Shift Manager, Production is responsible for overseeing all activities within the Production unit. This includes managing personnel actions such as hiring, promotions, and disciplinary measures, as well as developing and implementing production area policies. The role involves analyzing production metrics, managing large-scale operations projects, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. The Shift Manager sets and enforces performance expectations for the production management team, focusing on Quality, Cost, Organization, and Commitment. They are also responsible for ensuring that CIC allocations are followed and that Unit Leaders collaborate effectively to meet business needs and customer standards. Additionally, the Shift Manager provides training and guidance to Unit Leaders on customer specifications, packing production processes, and health/food safety policies, while overseeing quality inspection activities. Maintaining effective inter-departmental communication and teamwork, particularly with Shipping and Receiving, is crucial for timely and cost-effective order fulfillment. The role also includes planning, monitoring, and ensuring the availability of packaging supplies to meet daily production demands. Regular production reporting, including daily, weekly, and monthly reports with recommendations for improvement, is a key responsibility. The Shift Manager facilitates weekly meetings with the Unit Admin team to discuss issues, highlight concerns, and communicate company policy changes. Scheduling of Admin staff, including time away, is also part of the role.

Requirements

  • College degree or equivalent experience in Supply Chain, Business, or a related field required.
  • Three years’ experience in a production environment required.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task.
  • A proven track record of managing large groups of employees as an active floor manager.
  • Proficiency in use of English language with the ability to communicate effectively and professionally, present information and direction, and field questions from managers, employees and external contacts.
  • Proficient in computer-use skills (MS Office: Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Willingness to work independently, with minimal supervision and take ownership of job.
  • Strong knowledge of local, state and federal laws and requirements to maintain compliance to all relevant statues and guiding principles (FDA, USDA, MIOSHA, OSHA, CFIA).
  • A high degree of professionalism and personal integrity.
  • Strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Need to be creative, adaptable and able to accurately handle out-of-the-ordinary issues with a sense of urgency.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including extended workdays on different shifts.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the perishable goods industry preferred.
  • Working knowledge of a second language, bilingual preferred.

Responsibilities
