We value your skills and offer a job that makes an impact every day. The Shift Manager (MedTech) acts as a team leader and direct supervisor of resident caregivers, ensuring resident needs are met. This role involves distributing medications, assisting in skill training for new resident caregivers, and developing requests for in-service training. The Shift Manager reports directly to the Administrator and Resident Care Coordinator (RCC). In the absence of the Administrator, the Shift Manager is responsible for the overall flow of the facility and has the authority to make minor decisions regarding on-floor care, including summoning emergency care if a resident is in distress. All other care decisions must be made by the Administrator or RCC.

Requirements

  • Each employee must have a physical examination and tuberculin test performed by a physician. The tests are to be completed (with results) within seven (7) days after hire (unless regulations stipulate completion before employment). If the exams are not completed within this timeframe, the employee will be placed on suspension until they are completed
  • The Department of Social Services (DSS) licensing agency requires that fingerprint livescan and an affidavit on criminal convictions be submitted for the purpose of conducting a criminal record review. The DSS will issue an approval or denial according to the criminal clearance reports. An approval must be obtained in order to retain employment
  • Willing to submit to any drug screening as request or required
  • All employees must keep their FIRST-AID certification current
  • Leadership, oral/written communication, interpersonal and public interactive skills
  • Knowledge of Geriatric care and licensing regulations
  • Organizational skills: must be able to maintain organizational order and efficiency; maintain resident files, employee records and work area in a tidy and orderly appearance
  • Mental: must be able to handle stress well, stay calm under pressure; ability to think and make decisions consistent with policies and procedures and licensing regulations
  • The person selected for this position must be 18 years or older
  • Possess at least one year's experience caring for the elderly

Responsibilities

  • Maintain resident charts, and keep other documentation current on facility forms, licensing forms, physician orders and incident reports
  • Ensure caregivers carry out their responsibility on the particular shift and resident needs are met to include; bathing, grooming, oral care, hygiene, mobility and other activities of daily living (ADLs)
  • Ensures these supports are delivered so that all residents function at their highest level physically, cognitively, and socially
  • Assist residents with scheduled toileting, bathing, dressing, perineum care, hygiene, skin care and support for episodic incontinence as well as the need arises
  • Assist residents with resident mobility and transfers according to approved assistance protocols
  • Assist residents at meal time and with daily recreational activities including; crafts, games, music, exercise and encouragement
  • Communicate resident status changes with the Administrator and RCC
  • Ensure all medication documentation is current and correct, including medication administration forms, physician orders, change of dosage and central medication storage
  • Coordinate physician and other appointments for the particular shift
  • Pass medications for the particular shift and read all "Shift Communication Notes" regarding the facility and residents so as to be informed of the condition of the residents and report such to the Administrator/RCC
  • Provide leadership to direct care staffs by identifying and communicating resident care priorities
  • Completes and follows in house safety program and ensures compliance with all safety laws (e.g. OSHA, Title 22, Fire Authority, etc.)
  • Understands and promotes the community's fire and accident prevention, sanitation procedures and use of fire safety equipment
  • Performs other duties as assigned
