The Facilities team manages building infrastructure, utilities, and services across Redlen’s sites. They set strategy for facility operations and ensure reliability, compliance, and efficiency to support manufacturing and R&D environments. The Maintenance team ensures the reliability and efficiency of Redlen’s facilities, equipment, and energy systems. They lead maintenance activities, manage technicians and contractors, and drive continuous improvement to support production and R&D needs. As a Shift Maintenance Specialist you are responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing production, R&D, and facility equipment. The ideal candidate is a certified Electrician or Electronics Technologist with strong mechanical aptitude and demonstrated experience maintaining complex industrial equipment. This role has demanding physical requirements, specifically requiring the ability to lift and carry more than 50 lbs. occasionally, and 25–50 lbs. frequently.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Strong background in electrical and electronic systems—this is essential.
  • Certified electrical/electronics trades ticket (required) e.g., Journeyperson Electrician, Electronics Technician certification, or equivalent
  • Ability to lift and carry more than 50 lbs occasionally, and 25–50 lbs frequently
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Demonstrated advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment
  • Demonstrated innovation and initiative
  • Collaborative with a positive attitude and strong self‑motivation
  • Organized, detail‑oriented, and reliable under time‑sensitive conditions

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with maintenance-related data entry, CMMS systems, and MS Office is an asset.
  • Hydraulics, pneumatics, and compressed gases
  • HVAC systems, chillers, coolers, and air compressors
  • Engines (including diesel), generators, and industrial motors
  • Millwrighting, welding, machining, or mechanical fabrication
  • Plumbing systems and pumps (including high‑vacuum pumps)
  • Carpentry, construction, or general facility work
  • Technical diploma in a related mechanical or trades field is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, maintain, and analyze electrical circuits, wiring diagrams, schematics, and control systems.
  • Install, repair, calibrate, service, and/or replace electrical and electronic devices, including power distribution and control components.
  • Diagnose and maintain unique custom-built equipment, process tools, facility systems, and control devices.
  • Perform repairs and preventive maintenance on mechanical systems, including hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, motors, HVAC equipment, and utilities infrastructure.
  • Monitor and maintain all assigned building systems to ensure reliable operation.
  • Participate in establishing, executing, and improving the Preventive Maintenance (PM) program for production and facility equipment.
  • Support equipment and instrumentation calibration activities.
  • Enter equipment history, calibration data, and maintenance records into a database daily.
  • Source parts, materials, and components for repairs, upgrades, and equipment builds.
  • Supervise contractors as required to ensure safe and efficient execution of work.
  • Complete minor construction or fabrication projects when needed.
  • Prepare clear written work instructions and maintenance documentation.
  • Provide after-hours support as part of a scheduled on‑call rotation.
  • Perform shift work and respond to emergency callouts as required.
  • Other duties as assigned and relevant to the role.
