Requirements

H.S. Diploma/G.E.D. with three (3) years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
Valid N.Y.S. Driver’s License
N.Y.S. Child Abuse Registry clearance.
Customer service skills.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Mobility sufficient to drive to and participate in meetings at client’s homes and/or community facilities, including those that may not meet Federal accessibility standards for disabled individuals.
Manual dexterity sufficient to work with children/adults in a challenging and active environment.
Ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

Supervising and supporting staff while adhering to shelter policies and procedures.
Serving as the main point of contact for staff regarding scheduling concerns.
Overseeing the shift schedule, including managing staff time off, handling unexpected absences, addressing lateness, and coordinating alternate staff to ensure adequate shift coverage.
Monitoring and evaluating staff performance.
Handling conflicts following program guidelines.
Responding to client and shelter emergencies in a timely manner.
Maintaining a clean and safe environment.
Updating the Nightly Shelter Log.
Facilitating communication with other shift supervisors and the Program Manager.
Serving as a professional role model for both staff and participants in the program.
