Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma/G.E.D. with three (3) years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Valid N.Y.S. Driver’s License
  • N.Y.S. Child Abuse Registry clearance.
  • Customer service skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Mobility sufficient to drive to and participate in meetings at client’s homes and/or community facilities, including those that may not meet Federal accessibility standards for disabled individuals.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to work with children/adults in a challenging and active environment.
  • Ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with a specific population is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervising and supporting staff while adhering to shelter policies and procedures.
  • Serving as the main point of contact for staff regarding scheduling concerns.
  • Overseeing the shift schedule, including managing staff time off, handling unexpected absences, addressing lateness, and coordinating alternate staff to ensure adequate shift coverage.
  • Monitoring and evaluating staff performance.
  • Handling conflicts following program guidelines.
  • Responding to client and shelter emergencies in a timely manner.
  • Maintaining a clean and safe environment.
  • Updating the Nightly Shelter Log.
  • Facilitating communication with other shift supervisors and the Program Manager.
  • Serving as a professional role model for both staff and participants in the program.
