About The Position

The Shift Lead assists the manager in executing and maintaining operations at the cafe. The role includes delegating tasks, maintaining a safe and clean environment for team members, and ensuring operations run smoothly when the manager is not present. The position regularly requires 25–30 hours per week. Hours vary depending on orders and can be discussed; weekdays are generally between 8:00 AM and 2:00 PM.

Requirements

Ability to regularly lift at least 50 lbs.
Proficiency with technology and computer systems, such as Excel, attendance systems, and ordering systems.
Excellent communication, problem-solving, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Ability to manage bakery operations independently and effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to stand, stoop, and walk for prolonged periods.
Eagerness to learn and build on constructive feedback.

Responsibilities

Maintain consistently high operational standards, with or without a manager present.
Remain calm during stressful or unexpected situations and help team members adapt to changing circumstances.
Communicate clearly and effectively with team members and the manager to support smooth transitions and prevent miscommunication.
Create a positive team environment by noticing changes or difficulties team members may be experiencing.
Help team members solve problems and improve performance efficiency.
Perform opening duties, closing duties, and general bakery operations; maintain punctuality and attendance for scheduled shifts.
Ensure orders and inventory are received and organized appropriately.
Follow health, safety, and sanitation procedures and ensure team members follow them.
Perform other duties as assigned.
