About The Position

The Shift Lead contributes to the cafe’s success by assisting the manager with executing and maintaining operations. The role delegates tasks, maintains a safe and clean environment for team members, and ensures operations run smoothly when the manager is absent. The position regularly requires 25–30 hours per week. Work hours vary depending on orders and can be discussed; weekdays are generally 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

Requirements

Regularly lift at least 50 pounds.
Demonstrate proficiency with technology and computer systems, such as Excel, attendance systems, and ordering systems.
Have excellent communication, problem-solving, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Manage bakery operations independently and effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Be able to stand, stoop, and walk for prolonged periods.
Be eager to learn and build on constructive feedback.

Responsibilities

Maintain high operational standards whether or not a manager is present.
Remain calm in stressful or unexpected situations and help team members adapt to changing circumstances.
Communicate clearly and effectively with team members and the manager to support smooth transitions and prevent miscommunication.
Foster a positive team environment by noticing changes or difficulties team members may be experiencing.
Help team members solve problems and improve performance efficiency.
Perform opening duties, closing duties, and general bakery operations; maintain punctuality and attendance for scheduled shifts.
Receive and organize orders and inventory.
Follow health, safety, and sanitation procedures and ensure team members follow them.
Perform other duties as assigned.
