About The Position

The Penny Ice Creamery is seeking Shift Leads for its Santa Cruz County shops. The Penny Ice Creamery is unique in Santa Cruz for making ice cream completely from scratch, in-house, using local and organic ingredients, offering a variety of unique and classic flavors. As a Shift Leader, you will be responsible for creating an excellent customer experience by scooping ice cream, preparing special items like sundaes and milkshakes, and making high-quality coffee and tea drinks after barista training. You will also be trained on opening and closing the shop and making fresh sugar cones and marshmallow fluff from scratch. In addition to providing exceptional service, you will act as a leader and role model for the staff, maintaining the flow of business, the presentation of the shop, and upholding high standards of service, product quality, and hospitality during your shift. The company operates four locations in Santa Cruz County: Downtown Santa Cruz, Pleasure Point, Aptos Village, and Scotts Valley.

Skilled in attention to detail and follow-through.
Available to work on weekdays, weekends and holidays.
Available to work at least 20 hours a week on a reliable basis.
Must be available to work through Summer 2026 (June ~ September).

Preference will be given to individuals with experience in leadership, but we are willing to train the right person.

Responsibilities
