About The Position

Supervises and coordinates the activities of workers engaged in producing custom thermoplastic extrusions.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Manufacturing experience necessary.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Able to learn basic computer operations.
  • Regularly required to stand and walk.
  • Occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally assist to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees production on all extrusion lines, including quality control, coordinating manpower and material requirements on the shift, monitoring output, and managing time and equipment.
  • Studies production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignments.
  • Interprets company policy to workers on the shift pertaining to such things as overtime, absenteeism, tardiness, and alcohol or drug use on the job, and enforces safety regulations.
  • Responsible for the welfare of employees on the shift, including breaks, general safety, making recommendations on working conditions, and administering decisions pertaining to health and safety.
  • Interprets specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers and assigns duties.
  • Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase the efficiency of the shop, department, or work crew.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems.
  • Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.
  • Works with workers to set up machines and equipment.
  • Performs activities of workers supervised when required.
  • Responsible for monitoring the job performance of each worker on the shift and evaluating each one formally or informally.
  • Responsible for on-the-job training of new employees on the shift, following guidelines set up by management.
