About The Position

The Shift Lead is responsible for supporting the execution of daily operations by coordinating work, assigning tasks, and ensuring productivity, quality, and efficiency standards are met during the shift. This hands-on role will support multiple functions, proactively address operational issues, and ensure work is completed safely and in alignment with established procedures. The Shift Lead typically works on shifts with limited supervisory presence and is responsible for supporting daily operations and team performance. This role does not carry formal responsibility for employee attendance, discipline, or personnel decisions.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 5+ years of sheet metal manufacturing experience in Press Brake, Turret Laser Combo and/or Welding.
  • Previous team lead or supervisory experience.
  • Ability to read blueprints and use measuring equipment, including height gauges.
  • Basic math skills, including decimals and percentages.
  • Proficient with email, Word, Excel, and ERP systems.
  • Knowledge of 5S practices and manufacturing safety standards.
  • Experience coaching, training, and developing employees.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective time management with the ability to take initiative.
  • Ability to handle questions and concerns professionally and respectfully.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support daily production activities to meet safety, quality, efficiency, and production goals.
  • Assign work and ensure team members have the materials, tools, and information needed.
  • Provide on-the-job training, coaching, and feedback to employees.
  • Monitor production targets, workflow, and KPIs; address issues and escalate concerns as needed.
  • Conduct first-piece and visual inspections to ensure quality standards.
  • Lead daily team meetings and communicate shift handoffs.
  • Coordinate with Quality, Maintenance, Logistics, IT, and other departments.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy and proper material handling.
  • Enforce company policies, safety procedures, PPE requirements, and 5S standards.
  • Support safety walkthroughs, incident investigations, emergency procedures, and corrective actions.
  • Flex between departments or locations as needed to support operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
