About The Position

The Shift Engineer is the first line of defense for process troubleshooting in a semiconductor wafer fabrication factory. This entry-level-to-professional role performs structured assignments under direct supervision, applying fundamental theories, principles, and concepts. The engineer uses established procedures to resolve routine or standard problems and receives instruction and guidance from others. The role balances production support and problem solving, spending approximately half of the time monitoring and managing Work in Process (WIP) and half troubleshooting process, equipment, and product-related issues. It supports process stability, production continuity, product quality, yield, and overall operational performance through process monitoring, technical troubleshooting, collaboration, and technician development.

  • Balance production support and troubleshooting, spending approximately 50% of time monitoring and managing WIP and 50% addressing process, equipment, and product-related issues.
  • Monitor process performance using Statistical Process Control (SPC), identify trends, and take corrective actions to prevent deviations and improve yield.
  • Manage Lot Processing (LP) status for released recipes, ensuring recipe compliance, accurate documentation, and timely updates.
  • Collaborate with Engineering to identify, communicate, contain, and resolve potential Out-of-Control (OOC) and Out-of-Specification (OOS) conditions and support continuous process improvement.
  • Train Manufacturing Technicians (MTs) and provide certification sign-off to ensure they are qualified to execute processes consistently and follow procedures and quality standards.
