About The Position

Maryland Environmental Service has an opening for a Shift Engineer (First Grade State of MD Stationary Engineer) located at our facility in Somerset County, MD. This position is a plant operator who will be in charge of the steam plant and provide maintenance as needed during their shift. MES was established by the General Assembly in 1970 to assist with the preservation, improvement, and management of the quality of air, land, water, and natural resources, and to promote the health and welfare of the citizens of the State. Today, MES employs over 700 teammates and operates more than 1,000 environmental projects across Maryland and the Mid-Atlantic region. As a not-for-profit business unit of the state of Maryland, MES provides multi-disciplinary environmental compliance services to enhance and protect the environment through innovative solutions to the region’s most complex environmental challenges.

Requirements

  • Graduation from a standard high school or GED
  • Three years of operating experience in steam plant operations
  • Valid driver's license with less than 5 points
  • First Grade State of Maryland Stationary Engineer’s License
  • Currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
