Shift 6 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. w/weekends Scheduled Weekly Hours 12 POSITION PURPOSE: During assigned work hours, supervises functions and activities within CGH Medical Center, performs patient care duties in any capacity as needed. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Maintains awareness of institutional activities and functions. Coordinates and assigns personnel to maintain continuity and quality patient care. Utilizes proper verbal and non-verbal communication skills and techniques when interacting with staff, peers and administrative personnel. Maintains clinical competency in nursing based on current scientific knowledge. Assists with development, implementation and evaluation of ongoing QI programs. Assists with the development of policies and procedures to ensure effectiveness. Assists with preparation and maintenance of documentation as required by professional and organizational standards, including but not limited to, incidents, discipline/counseling, competencies, schedules, orientation, policies and procedures, proposal for equipment, supplies, capital expenditures, staff meetings and time and attendance. Provides leadership to patient care areas when Department Directors are unavailable, providing appropriate counseling and initiating disciplinary action where required. Manages emergency situations in a proficient and appropriate manner. Performs work on special projects as needed. SPECIALIZED KNOW-HOW & REQUIREMENTS: Current Illinois Registered Nurse Licensure required. Associate's in Nursing required; Bachelor’s in Nursing preferred. BLS required within 30 days of hire and maintained throughout employment at CGH. Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in acute care settings strongly preferred. Minimum of two (2) years charge or supervisory nursing experience strongly preferred. Requirements

Current Illinois Registered Nurse Licensure required.
Associate's in Nursing required
BLS required within 30 days of hire and maintained throughout employment at CGH.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s in Nursing preferred.
Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in acute care settings strongly preferred.
