About The Position

Under limited supervision, performs a variety of technical and clerical duties in support of the Sheriff’s Office Booking and Central Control operations; and performs related work as required. This is an Open Competitive/Countywide Promotional recruitment being conducted to fill a current full-time vacancy in the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office. The list established from this recruitment may be used to fill future vacancies as they occur.

Requirements

• One year of full-time clerical or security experience; OR an equivalent combination of related training and experience.
• Must be able to work shift work.
• Must maintain certification as a qualified user of the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) and Nevada Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) within one year of appointment and for continued employment.
• All felony convictions, gross misdemeanor and certain misdemeanor convictions will prohibit the employee from working with NCIC and CJIS.
• Must pass a background investigation which includes: Submission of a set of fingerprints, Completion and submission of a personal history statement, Passing a Computerized Voice Stress Analysis (CVSA) examination, Passing a color vision test and an audio/hearing test.
• Must reside in the state of Nevada or neighboring California communities such as Truckee, South Lake Tahoe or Susanville as of their first day of work.

Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of technical and clerical duties in support of the Sheriff’s Office Booking and Central Control operations.
• Maintains certification as a qualified user of the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) and Nevada Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) within one year of appointment and must maintain certification for continued employment.
• Works shift work, covering all shifts, 24/7/365 including nights, weekends and holidays.
• Undergoes background checks, including fingerprint submission, personal history statement completion, CVSA examination, color vision test, and audio/hearing test.
• Resides in the state of Nevada or neighboring California communities as of their first day of work.
