Works under the general supervision of the Records Supervisor. Acts as the lead worker in the absence of Records Supervisor. Performs all clerk functions unassisted and provides direction and support to Records Clerks. Types a variety of correspondence, forms, reports, etc. requiring a high degree of accuracy. Performs a variety of administrative tasks, including information collection, statistical computation, and verification and maintenance of official departmental records. In the absence of the Records Supervisor, the Lead Records Clerk will assume supervisory responsibilities. Assigns and delegates tasks and reports to Records Clerks. Manages, approves, and ensures quality of reports; communicates with and provides information to public, attorneys, and outside agencies as requested. Prepares, edits, and reviews correspondence, reports, invoices, and other documents from copy, rough draft, dictation machine, or instructions; compiles readily accessible data; performs background checks and responds to discovery requests as needed. Manages grant-funded officer operations, processes timesheets, and ensures appropriate payment. Receives and distributes incoming mail and prepares outgoing mail; answers phones and takes messages.
