An employee in this class performs a variety of tasks at the County Animal Shelter to care for and prepare animals for adoption, provide vaccines and medications, and follow the plan of care. Work also includes office support activities such as reception, record keeping, data entry and adoptions processing. Work involves ensuring the animal shelter is maintained in a clean and safe condition, feeding, handling, and providing custodial care to animals in the shelter and assisting the general public in claiming and adopting animals. Employees are also responsible for preparing and maintaining various records pertaining to animal identification, animal populations, etc. as well as public contact answering telephones and responding to routine inquiries or requests for services.
