About The Position
At Canyon Creek Services (CCS), our Shelter Staff play a vital role in creating a safe, supportive space for survivors of domestic and sexual violence. Our shelter is a safe haven, serving women and their children in crisis, and our Staff are at the heart of that mission. We’re hiring for a part-time swing & weekend position, perfect for someone who wants meaningful work with flexible hours. We believe diverse experiences bring valuable perspectives. Requirements
- A commitment to our mission, 'Communities Free of Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault'
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic computer skills and ability to manage documentation
- Sensitivity to diverse backgrounds and experiences
- Ability to pass a criminal background check
- CPR/First Aid Certification (Required within 6 months of hire)
- 40-Hour Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault Advocate Certification (training provided) (Required within 6 months of hire)
Responsibilities
- Answer phone calls from clients and staff
- Complete intakes for new shelter residents during shift
- Provide emotional support, crisis intervention, and safety planning
- Monitor security systems and conduct regular safety checks
- Maintain accurate and confidential records
- Assist with daily shelter operations and resident support
- Help lead or support activities for residents and their children
- Maintain the cleanliness and good condition of the shelter, including tasks such as room turnovers and regular cleaning.
- Perform light maintenance and upkeep of the shelter grounds, which may include yard work and snow removal.
