About The Position

The Engineering Technician will support refurbishment, upgrade, and maintenance efforts for shelters associated with SLQ-32 radar systems within the Maritime Expeditionary Warfare Division at NSWC Crane. This role requires a mechanically inclined, highly motivated individual capable of working independently in a hands-on technical environment. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong problem-solving skills who can contribute to system readiness and equipment lifecycle sustainment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or Associate degree in a relevant field preferred.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude with experience using hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and take initiative on task completion.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and understand technical documentation, schematics, and drawings.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work in a team environment when required.
  • Must be able to work on-site at NSWC Crane, 5 days per week.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work in confined or industrial spaces for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working in a workshop or industrial environment.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Responsibilities

  • Perform hands-on refurbishment, repair, and modification of SLQ-32 radar system shelters and associated hardware.
  • Execute mechanical disassembly, inspection, repair, and reassembly of shelter components and subassemblies.
  • Support integration and installation of equipment within shelters, including mounting hardware, cabling, and structural components.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, technical manuals, and work instructions to complete assigned tasks accurately.
  • Conduct inspections and document discrepancies, recommending corrective actions as needed.
  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance to ensure system reliability and operational readiness.
  • Maintain work areas, tools, and equipment in accordance with safety and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with engineers, program staff, and other technicians to meet schedule and performance objectives.
  • Provide status updates and maintain accurate records of work performed.
