About The Position

Shelter Insurance is seeking an exceptional entrepreneur to become a Shelter Insurance Agent in Elkhart, IN. This role is ideal for individuals who desire to meet new people, develop new contacts, become known in their community, and are passionate about serving their community. It offers the opportunity to grow sales, business, and networking skills, control one's own income, and start a business with minimal start-up costs. Shelter does not require previous insurance industry experience; backgrounds in real estate, retail sales, education, and coaching are common among successful agents. The core requirements are a motivated attitude, an entrepreneurial spirit, and the capacity for effective communication in a sales environment. While sales experience and a business-related degree are helpful, Shelter provides comprehensive training, including in-house and virtual new agent training schools, and continuing industry education. Shelter does not require prospective agents to have capital or assets on hand, nor do they sell or loan money to agents to start their business. The primary expectations are meeting sufficient sales requirements and core business proficiencies. Agents are responsible for any unsatisfied bills upon departure, such as advertising, telephone, and utility contracts. A business owner's mindset is crucial for success. Agents will focus on developing prospects and selling Shelter products, with potential opportunities to hire staff for administrative duties and sales support.
