This is an overnight position (11 PM-7 AM) requiring availability for part-time or full-time employment. The Shelter Coordinator will practice informed decision making, honesty, transparency, and appropriate rapport building with staff, clients, and community partners. They will maintain a positive working relationship with coordinators, case managers, and on-site service providers to ensure continuity of care. A high level of professionalism is expected at all times. The role involves providing quality crisis intervention and seeking appropriate support for difficult or emergency client situations. Accurate, honest, and timely documentation throughout the shift is required. The coordinator must be willing and able to communicate effectively with various emergency services and community partners. If assigned, training and licensing in HMIS data entry will be required, along with accurate client data entry into HMIS and in-house tracking methods. The coordinator will work closely with Lead Coordinators/Shelter Manager to ensure effective shelter operations, maintain client confidentiality, and comply with all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), Policies and Procedures manuals, and the Employee Handbook. Consultation with the Lead Coordinator and/or Shelter Manager is expected as needed. The position requires the ability to work weekends, additional shifts, and holidays when requested, and to work with people in crises without judgment, including those with mental illnesses, addictions, and criminal backgrounds. General knowledge of issues specific to homelessness, substance abuse, minorities, and persons with disabilities is necessary. All other reasonable duties assigned by management are also part of the role, with a focus on cost-effectiveness as FSS is a not-for-profit agency. Attendance at required staff meetings and training courses is mandatory.
