About The Position

Bethany House Services is a large residential family shelter committed to resident-centered, trauma-informed service delivery. We are seeking a dedicated and experienced professional to support the Shelter Director with daily operations, coach and train staff, ensure compliance and quality, and strengthen resident outcomes across all shifts.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in shelter operations, residential services, social services, or a related field.
  • Ability to work 2nd shift.
  • Strong ability to coach, mentor, and develop staff.
  • Knowledge of shelter operations, trauma-informed care, and crisis intervention.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to assess operational needs and implement improvements.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous leadership, lead worker, training, or coaching experience preferred.
  • Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness preferred.
  • Knowledge of HMIS/Clarity systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support the daily operations of the shelter and assist in maintaining consistent service delivery across all shifts.
  • Serve as a resource and operational support to Shelter Leads and Shelter Assistants.
  • Assist with the implementation and monitoring of shelter policies, procedures, and SOPs.
  • Identify operational challenges and recommend solutions to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Support leadership coverage as needed during emergencies or staffing shortages.
  • Provide ongoing coaching, guidance, and support to Shelter Leads and Shelter Assistants.
  • Assist with onboarding and training of new employees.
  • Conduct refresher trainings and skill-building opportunities for staff.
  • Monitor adherence to shelter policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Identify training needs and communicate recommendations to the Shelter Operations Director.
  • Model professional conduct, trauma-informed care, and resident-centered service delivery.
  • Review shelter practices to ensure compliance with agency policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor consistency in staff performance and provide coaching when opportunities for improvement are identified.
  • Assist in developing and updating SOPs, forms, and operational guidelines.
  • Track operational trends and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Assist staff in addressing resident concerns, conflicts, and crisis situations.
  • Support Shelter Assistants in implementing resident accountability measures and policy enforcement.
  • Promote trauma-informed, strengths-based approaches when working with residents.
  • Collaborate with Case Management, Housing Specialists, and other departments to support positive resident outcomes.
  • Support staff in responding to emergencies, behavioral incidents, and crisis situations.
  • Review incident reports for completeness and accuracy.
  • Assist in identifying safety risks and recommend corrective actions.
  • Ensure emergency procedures and safety protocols are consistently followed.
  • Facilitate communication between departments and shifts to promote continuity of operations.
  • Support organizational initiatives and special projects.
