About The Position

The Shelter Advocate works with administrative and direct services staff to develop and implement emergency shelter services. These services include crisis intervention, crisis counseling, intakes, assessments, orientations, and cooperative living agreements.

Requirements

• Educational experience in human services or equivalent life experiences.
• Strong household management capabilities.
• Ability to work rotating shifts.
• Ability to work extended hours as needed.
• Ability to lift and push 50 pounds.
• Basic computer skills.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of or experience in residential care settings.
• Knowledge of or experience in crisis intervention and/or crisis counseling.
• Bilingual ability.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Work with administrative and direct services staff to develop and implement emergency shelter services.
• Provide or support crisis intervention and crisis counseling.
• Conduct intakes and assessments.
• Provide orientations and establish cooperative living agreements.
