About The Position

This role involves working with various types of steel, including stainless and galvanized, to maintain and repair equipment. The Sheetmetal Worker will interpret blueprints, sketches, and diagrams to perform tasks such as repairing dewatering and drying equipment, baling and packaging equipment, guards, and ductwork. The position also requires fabricating new parts, creating patterns, and performing field fitting when necessary. A key aspect of the role is ensuring all installations are safe, with no rough edges or points.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts
  • Must be able to work well with others.
  • Follow department and plant procedures.
  • Be responsible for company issued tools.
  • Should know hand signals for crane.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer 5 years relative industrial sheetmetal experience, journeyman level
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments
  • Good troubleshooting skills
  • Experience in a manufacturing/industrial setting a plus

Responsibilities

  • Work with all types of steel including stainless and galvanized.
  • Work from blueprints, sketches and diagrams to maintain and repair equipment such as dewatering and drying equipment, baling and packaging equipment, guards of all types and sizes, and duct work of all shapes and sizes.
  • Fabricate and lay out new fabrications and make patterns.
  • Field fit when necessary.
  • Install work for safety measures without rough edges or points.
  • Operate all machines needed to perform assigned work, including power tools (square shears, nibbler, bending brakes, rollers, drill press, saws, grinders, portable shears, drills, impact tools) and hand tools (ratchets and sockets, hammers, wrenches, pull lifts, rivet guns).
  • Learn and observe all plant safety rules and regulations.
  • Be alert to the dangers of working with sheet metal and tools.
  • Potentially be on Emergency Response Teams (ERT) to respond to site emergencies, which may require passing a physical and additional trainings (exterior firefighting, high-angle rescue, HazMat response).
  • Work in good physical condition, involving bending, stooping, twisting, kneeling, squatting, pushing, pulling, reaching, standing, carrying heavy loads, climbing, working in extreme heat or cold, and working in close congested areas.
  • Work inside vessels and high locations.
  • Complete Computer Based Learning (CBL’s) and off-site training as needed.
  • Work well with others.
  • Follow department and plant procedures.
  • Be responsible for company-issued tools.
  • Know hand signals for crane operation.
