About The Position

Hutco, Inc. is currently seeking experienced Sheet Metal Workers for shipbuilding work in Newport News, Virginia. This position involves installation and fabrication work supporting shipboard foundations, ventilation systems, bulkheads, furniture, and related sheet metal assemblies. Marine experience is preferred; however, relevant aircraft, industrial, or commercial sheet metal experience may also be considered.

Requirements

• Experienced Sheet Metal Workers
• Ability to read and interpret complex ventilation assembly drawings, blueprints, sketches, weld symbols, material requirements, and datum/reference lines.
• Ability to measure and interpret fractional and decimal dimensions using rulers and standard measuring tools.
• Ability to lay out, fabricate, assemble, and install sheet metal components to required specifications.
• Ability to install and support shipboard foundations, ventilation components, bulkheads, furniture, and related assemblies.
• Proficiency in operating hand and power tools including electric drills, grinders, and rivet guns.
• Proficiency in operating shop equipment including drill presses, press brakes, and shears.
• Ability to perform fabrication and assembly work in physically demanding industrial and shipyard environments.
• Ability to follow Newport News Shipbuilding safety requirements, PPE standards, and applicable OSHA regulations.
• Ability to maintain productivity and quality while working around active shipbuilding operations.

Nice To Haves

• Marine experience is preferred
• Relevant aircraft, industrial, or commercial sheet metal experience may also be considered.
• Rigger or material-handling experience.
• Experience operating mobile equipment such as JLGs and scissor lifts.
• Previous marine or shipyard sheet metal experience.
