About The Position

This is a job at a Depot Level repair facility maintaining various types of aircraft, including but not limited to AV-8, C-130, C-2, E-2, EA-6B, F/A-18, H-1, H-53, H-60, MQ-8, P-3, P-8, F-35, and V-22. Military aviation platform experience is a plus.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 4 years Sheetmetal Mechanic (Aircraft Mechanic II) experience
  • Must have Military installation DEPOT level maintenance experience
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Must have or be able to obtain a secret clearance.
  • Perform post offer, pre-employment substance abuse testing.

Nice To Haves

  • Military aviation platform experience
  • V-22 or other composite aircraft experience preferred
  • A&P license
  • Experience from military fixed wing community or civilian heavy structure background
  • Experience in heavy structure U.S. Military or related FAA or civil aviation

Responsibilities

  • Perform a full range of aircraft sheet metal duties including, but not limited to, disassemble, modify, repair, and reassemble complex aircraft metal items and systems, e.g., bulkheads, airframes, spars, air scoops, wings, flaps, pylons, sponsons, fuselages, skins, ribs, gussets and fuel tanks.
  • Analyze and evaluate structural damage to metal systems and items; develop patterns using a combination of parallel and radial line development.
  • Fabricate, install, and repair a variety of items and systems made from a wide variety of metals, e.g., stainless steel, copper sheet, magnesium, honeycomb, alloys, aluminum; replace sections and patch old systems.
  • Cut, bend, shape, and form metals for items that have numerous irregular angles, planes, and curves with varying pitch and circumference.
  • Use a variety of assembly joints, complex fastening systems, riveted or welded joints, drill or punch holes; and assemble or repair items by seaming, soldering, bolting, screwing, riveting, tacking, and spot welding.
  • Meet appearance and strength standards, as well as critical tolerances.
  • Pass a FRCSW administered certification skills examination.
  • Use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, protractors, snap ring, height, depth, dial and screw pitch gauges, squares, rulers, trammel points, and sine bars.
  • Use oxyacetylene cutting torches and electric arc welding machines.
  • Other duties as assigned.
