About The Position

ASRC Federal NetCentric is seeking a Sheetmetal Mechanic in Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. This role involves performing physical sheet metal work under general supervision, utilizing blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, and applicable specifications. The mechanic will independently handle installation, construction, fabrication, modification, assembly, repair, fit check, cutting, and forming of various materials for components like ducts, pipes, louvers, and frames. Responsibilities also include obtaining measurements, operating cutting and forming machines, maintaining logs, and performing functional tests. Ensuring compliance with all relevant federal, state, local, NASA, and Space Force laws, regulations, and requirements, including safety and energy conservation, is crucial.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Seven (7) years of industrial or commercial sheet metal experience.
  • Valid FL Driver License in good standing.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft programs and databases.
  • Must currently hold or be able to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.
  • US Citizenship is necessary for obtaining a clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Trade school and/or Military training preferred.
  • Journeyman’s License or Florida Contractors License preferred.
  • MAXIMO experience a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform physical sheet metal work from verbal information, blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, and applicable specifications.
  • Independently perform installation, construction/fabrication, modification, assembly, repair, fit check, cutting, and forming of sheet metal, plastic, and other material compositions.
  • Manufacture and/or install ducts, pipes, louvers, boxes, diffusers, shields, deflectors, trays, screens, frames, braces, and handrails, including sheet metal layouts where no true view exists.
  • Perform any work assigned to employees in the classification and work in other classifications when incidental but necessary.
  • Obtain necessary measurements for sheet metal work from blueprints, charts, sketches, verbal information, or by taking measurements at the actual point of installation.
  • Apply thorough knowledge of sheet metal shop theory, practices, and procedures.
  • Set up and operate all cutting, fabricating, and forming machines and tools, such as shears, brakes, bending rods, punch and drill presses, grinders, buffers, files, and other required tools.
  • Maintain logs, records, charts, etc., as required.
  • Perform functional and operational tests of sheet metal installations, assemblies, and parts.
  • Ensure compliance with Federal, State, local, NASA, and Space Force laws and regulations, energy management/conservation regulations, security, safety, hurricane, and other specialized programs or contractual requirements.
