About The Position

Responsible for the layout, fabrication and installation of duct work and outfitting items made from various grades of Sheetmetal, utilizing various hand tools and shop equipment. As an Ingalls Sheetmetal Mechanic, you’ll help build the systems that keep America’s most advanced naval vessels moving, ventilated, and mission‑ready. Requirements

Proven experience in sheet metal fabrication and installation
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
Strong shop math and layout skills
Commitment to safety, precision, and teamwork

Nice To Haves

High school graduate or equivalent
Tech Master Certification

Responsibilities

Fabricate and install a wide range of sheet metal components, including: Ductwork, Ventilation systems, Main engine exhaust assemblies, Metal containers and housings, Instrumentation panels
Plan, lay out, and execute work using shop math, blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications.
Use cutting, forming, and fastening tools to achieve precise, high‑quality installations.
Work in an active shipyard environment that may involve varying conditions, heights, and confined spaces.
Maintain safety practices that meet — and often exceed — industry standards.
