About The Position

The Sheeter Helper is responsible for staging, inspecting, and loading large paper rolls into the sheeting machinery. They support the Sheeter Operator during machine setups, safely manage production waste, and prepare finished, stacked pallets of sheeted paper for the next phase of shipping or printing.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous work in warehouse, printing, packaging, or paper manufacturing environments is highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with forklifts, clamp trucks, or manual pallet jacks is often required.
  • Ability to accurately read a tape measure down to 1/32 of an inch and perform basic mathematical tracking calculations.
  • Minimal data entry skills to log inventory changes into ERP software or tracking systems.
  • Strict commitment to following safety initiatives, Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) protocols, and wearing mandatory Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • High physical endurance to stand and walk for up to 12 hours on a concrete production floor.
  • Capability to manually lift, push, and handle heavy production items up to 50 lbs.
  • Agility for frequent bending, reaching, stooping, and climbing access stairs around massive equipment.
  • Comfort working in non-climate-controlled plant environments prone to high noise levels, vibrations, and ambient paper dust.

  • Advanced technical training or an associate degree in a related field is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Staging rolls according to the daily production schedule.
  • Pre-inspecting incoming parent rolls for outer core defects, tearing, or moisture damage.
  • Safely unwrapping rolls, removing old cores, and assisting with roll tracking alignment.
  • Helping thread the paper web through slitter blades, de-curlers, and rollers.
  • Frequently measuring cut sheets to verify dimensions, squareness, and catch structural defects.
  • Operating stretch wrappers, banders, and labeling equipment to secure finished skids.
  • Sorting, binding, and recycling paper trimmings to keep the department organized.
  • Assisting with regular machinery cleanup, lubrication, and basic blade replacement tasks.
