About The Position

Gallo Mechanical is looking for a Sheet Metal Project Manager to join our high-performing team. As a Project Manager, you will be the primary point-person responsible for managing the entire life cycle of sheet metal projects from inception through closure. The Project Manager shall ensure that the project is delivered safely, efficiently, and effectively in accordance with the agreed-upon budget, schedule, and quality, and to exceed the client's expectations. To achieve these important goals, the Project Manager will define project requirements and scope, manage project costs, coordinate shop fabrication and field installation, manage field labor, and manage subcontractors. Efficient delivery of project deliverables, effective quality control, clear communication of expectations to stakeholders, and upward reporting to senior management are critical tasks that must be performed throughout each project's lifecycle. The Project Manager will also develop and maintain long-term customer relationships to foster better communication and develop future work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management or related field, or significant related experience in Construction Management.
  • 7+ years of relevant project management work experience; experience in the sheet metal/HVAC duct construction industry is strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of SMACNA standards, duct fabrication and installation methods, and sheet metal shop and field coordination.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical contract drawings, specifications, and coordinated shop drawings; familiarity with BIM coordination (Revit, Navisworks, or similar) is a plus.
  • Demonstrate knowledge in construction management principles, practices and methods, environmental regulations, engineering project management methods, workplace safety, budgeting, employee supervision, and personnel management.
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment. He or she should be competent in handling simultaneously occurring tasks and deadlines.

  • Familiarity with BIM coordination (Revit, Navisworks, or similar) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee sheet metal and HVAC duct construction projects of various sizes and complexity.
  • Ultimately responsible for quality projects being built on time and within budget.
  • Work with the client (internal or external) to define the project scope, schedule, deliverables, risks, and expectations that are considered to deliver a successful project.
  • Responsible for managing the fabrication and installation of HVAC ductwork, air distribution, and related sheet metal systems that meet code requirements, SMACNA standards, budget, and on-time installation.
  • Coordinate with detailing/BIM and the fabrication shop to ensure shop drawings, fabrication releases, and material deliveries align with the field schedule.
  • Evaluate estimate and set up job costing system with labor, material, fabrication, and subcontract cost codes.
  • Negotiate and prepare vendor and subcontractor purchase orders and evaluate submittments (ductwork, dampers, grilles/registers/diffusers, insulation, and accessories) to reflect contract drawings and specifications.
  • Coordinate with other trades, including piping, plumbing, electrical, fire protection, controls, and test and balance, to resolve conflicts and support project milestones.
  • Conduct monthly reports and cost reviews – keep all participants and stakeholders informed in order to bring the job in on time and under budget.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relations with owners, general contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and internal customers.
  • Evaluate and develop field personnel including sheet metal workers, foremen, and superintendents.
  • Maintain a safe and secure work environment through maintaining safety meetings, incident investigations, and employee involvement.
