About The Position

The Sheet Metal Operator is responsible for reading blueprints and cut lists, properly setting up machines, and maintaining a strong focus on quality by checking the accuracy of cuts and bends. This role also requires the ability to competently operate most machines within the department.

Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent
Ability to lift 50-75lbs., plus on a continual basis.
Ability to push and pull carts.
Ability to use repetitive motions.
Ability to reach overhead and/or above shoulder height frequently.
Ability to stand for long periods of time.

Nice To Haves

Previous knowledge of sheet metal equipment preferred.

Responsibilities

Become proficient on all equipment in the sheet metal department.
Make setups on assigned machines according to blueprints.
Be conscious of quality at all times, always checking shear size BEFORE starting a run, checking the first run piece and every 10 pieces with proper print for proper part.
Do preventative measurement/bend checks before starting run.
Train others to perform your job.
Possess a good attitude and ability to work well with others.
Communicate well with other departments and supervision.
Possess basic math skills and the ability to use a calculator and basic measuring tools.
Be flexible with schedule and mindful of workload required.
All other duties as assigned.
Understand & be able to follow ALL safe operating procedures & requirements.
Use small hand tools in a safe manner.
Read measurement devices accurately.
Take ownership and be champion of the primary machine.
Be reliable, cooperative, self-motivated, and self-disciplined.
Be on time and at work.
Read blueprints and cut lists.
Properly set up machines.
Maintain a strong focus on quality by checking the accuracy of cuts and bends.
