About The Position

Sobieski Custom Homes is looking to hire a full-time Sheet Metal Mechanic for our Custom Homes Division. Our Sheet Metal Mechanic typically works 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM with overtime expected during peak periods. The successful Sheet Metal Mechanic is responsible for the fabrication, assembly, and installation of residential sheet metal systems and HVAC ductwork for custom home construction projects. This position requires strong attention to detail, quality workmanship, and the ability to read and interpret blueprints and residential HVAC layouts. The role requires experience working in high-end residential construction environments and the ability to work independently while coordinating with supervisors, installers, and other trades to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and according to specifications. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED minimum
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ residential and/or commercial HVAC or Sheet Metal experience
  • Strong knowledge of residential and/or commercial HVAC duct systems and sheet metal installation technique
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications
  • Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, measuring tools, and fabrication equipment
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screen with a valid driver's license and good driving record.
  • Accurately interpret technical drawings and execute precise metal cutting, shaping, and assembly tasks daily.
  • Proficiency with various hand and power tools.
  • Knowledge of welding and fastening techniques.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Graduation from a vocational school and/or apprenticeship preferred
  • Journeyman License highly preferred
  • OSHA certification favorable
