About The Position

Gallo Mechanical is hiring a Sheet Metal Mechanic responsible for assembling, installing, and repairing sheet metal products and equipment, including ducts, control boxes, drainpipes, and furnace casings. The role includes installing HVAC equipment and components, inspecting and preparing sheet metal seams and joints, installing prefabricated ductwork, and interpreting blueprints and specifications to lay out duct systems.

The position involves work in varied conditions, including mechanical equipment rooms with noisy operating equipment, extreme weather, precarious locations, and potential exposure to high-voltage electrical shock. It is physically demanding and requires frequent use of hands and fingers, walking, stooping, kneeling, and standing for extended periods, as well as lifting and moving loads of varying weights.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent and five years of experience as a sheet metal journeyman with commercial service experience, or an equivalent combination of education (technical school) and experience.
• Possess a valid TWIC card or be eligible to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Install HVAC equipment such as VAVs and fans, as well as grilles and diffusers.
• Inspect, assemble, and smooth seams and joints of burred surfaces.
• Install prefabricated sheet metal ducts for heating, air conditioning, or other purposes.
• Read blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine duct-system layouts.
• Assemble, install, and repair sheet metal products and equipment, including ducts, control boxes, drainpipes, and furnace casings.
