About The Position

Skillforce is hiring Sheet Metal Mechanics for ongoing project work in Arlington, Virginia. This field-based role supports the commercial division of an established mechanical contractor and involves fabricating, assembling, and installing commercial HVAC duct systems on an active project site. The position follows a consistent Monday-through-Friday day-shift schedule, with 40 base hours per week and overtime available as project demands require. Pay is $35.00 per hour, with W-2 employment and weekly pay by direct deposit.

Requirements

At least three years of journeyman-level commercial sheet metal experience.
Ability to independently read and execute work from blueprints and shop drawings.
Proficiency with sheet metal hand tools and fabrication techniques.
Reliable transportation to the job site.
Ability to pass a drug screen and background check.
Standard PPE: hard hat, safety glasses, steel toe boots, and gloves.

Responsibilities

Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and ductwork submittals.
Lay out, fabricate, and install rectangular and round HVAC duct systems.
Cut, shape, and join sheet metal using precision hand tools and standard fabrication methods.
Hang, brace, and seal duct to commercial building components in accordance with SMACNA standards.
Install related components, including diffusers, registers, dampers, and flex.
Coordinate with the project foreman and other trades to keep installations on schedule.
Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow all site safety requirements.
