About The Position

The Sheet Metal Helper assists mechanics with fabricating, assembling, installing, and repairing sheet metal products, ductwork, and equipment. The role supports work at multiple assigned job sites and may involve travel, typically without overnight stays. The employee may develop technical skills through internal training programs and/or an Apprenticeship Program. This position has no supervisory responsibility.

Requirements

At least 6 months of construction or customer service experience and/or an equivalent combination of vocational training and experience.
Knowledge of trade-related hand tools.
Ability to multitask, work with minimal supervision, follow written and oral instructions, pay attention to detail, and demonstrate problem-solving skills.
Must adhere to company policies and procedures.
Must be available and have the means to report to multiple assigned job sites.
Ability to correctly identify all colors of color-coded cables and wires.
Ability to see close and distance, perceive depth and peripheral vision, and adjust focus.

Nice To Haves

1–3 years of sheet metal experience.
Prior military experience.

Responsibilities

Help set up tools and equipment.
Load and unload construction materials from trucks and move them into buildings.
Clean the work area and restock supplies and materials as necessary.
Make subassemblies and hangers as directed by a mechanic.
Assist in lifting, positioning, and securing materials and devices during installation.
Maintain good housekeeping and a safe work area.
Develop technical skills through internal training programs and/or an Apprenticeship Program.
Perform other duties as assigned.
